Experience

Mark Ellinghouse is an associate in the firm’s real estate group. With both litigation and transactional experience, Mark provides general legal counsel to businesses and real estate professionals, with a focus on issues involving commercial and real estate transactions, contracts, and development.

Mark received his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of California, Davis in 2011 and his B.A. (double major in Political Science and History) from the University of California, Los Angeles. During law school, Mark gained a wealth of practical experience through internships, including working with corporate counsel for a publicly-traded international semiconductor company and as a legal advisor and business development manager for a small tech startup company in San Francisco. Mark also clerked at several law firms in the Sacramento area, and served as a judicial extern for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California.

Prior to joining Weintraub Tobin, Mark was an associate with Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard, where he represented private entities in business and real estate litigation disputes and advised local and regional businesses in matters of corporate governance, commercial contracts and general operations. Mark was also an associate at Trainor Fairbrook, where he represented landowners, tenants, and property management companies in all aspects of real estate litigation.

Mark also loves working with craft breweries, advising owners, brewers and managers regarding the endless array of legal issues facing their rapidly-expanding industry. California is a hotbed for craft brewing, and Mark has visited breweries throughout the state getting to know the wide variety of hoppy suds that its brewers are making daily. Mark’s unique business and legal background helps him offer practical, effective legal advice to his clients, avoiding many of the common pitfalls that bog down new and emerging breweries.

In his free time, Mark spends time playing basketball, comparing IPAs, wrestling with his French Bulldog, and rooting for the Sacramento Kings, San Francisco 49ers, and the UCLA Bruins.
