A message from Managing Shareholder Michael A. Kvarme:
Friends, family and colleagues –
I have been invited to participate in a major charity benefit golf tournament in September – The Capital Cup. All funds raised go directly to the charities selected.
As many of you know, our family lost our youngest son, Jimmy Kvarme, this past January to cancer. We have already had many friends contribute to charity in Jimmy’s honor but I feel compelled to continue our efforts. For those that have already given: if you can do more – great; and if not we appreciate all everyone has done.
Several months ago, Jimmy’s team leader, mentor and friend, Jed Brown, rode from Kalispell, MT to Old Faithful in the “Tour de Jimmy” and raised over $10,000 for cancer research through the V Foundation formed to honor Coach Jimmy Valvano.
I have decided to make this effort the “Tour de Jimmy – Golf Edition” and am asking for donations to one of two charities near and dear to our hearts:
The V Foundation
Each of these charities uses almost 100% of donation for research or direct services. The V Foundation’s efforts in cancer research are an obvious choice.
AXYS is an organization that provides a range of direct services as well as research to help those with XY chromosomal differences. Jimmy was born with the Kleinfelter’s variation. No one would have ever known this about Jimmy in large part because of the resources provided by AXYS. Julie previously served on the board and I provided legal assistance in the organization a few years ago.
I am normally terrible at asking for funds for charities but in this case, I believe strongly in the cause of each organization and our family has contributed to each.
Anything anyone can give is very appreciated. My thanks in advance for any contributions and feel free to call me with any questions.
