Weintraub Client Hollywood Gang Productions is set to co-produce a docuseries about the world-renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
The four-part docuseries titled “Nobu” will showcase the chef’s rise to fame and his unlikely path to success. AGC Television, Hollywood Gang, and Altimeter will co-produce, and the series will be directed by Matt Tyrnauer. Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang is an executive producer, along with Tyrnauer, Corey Reeser (Altimeter), Stuart Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and BJ Levin of AGC.

Filmmaker Siân Heder is set to direct and write a feature of the upcoming novel Impossible by Sarah Lotz.
Patrick Wachsberger and Ashley Stern with Picture Perfect Federation, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill with Black Label Media, and Sherry Marsh of Marsh Entertainment are producing. Weintraub Attorney Alan Grodin represented the deal on behalf of Picture Perfect Federation.

Federation Entertainment will partner up with Paramount TV to co-produce and co-distribute content “with a focus to collaborate with the best talents on formats worldwide,” as described by Pascal Breton. The President and Founder of Federation Entertainment made the announcement official this morning alongside Amy Powell, President of Paramount Television.

Weintraub client, Anant Singh, was recently elected to the International Olympic Committee. Alan Grodin, Singh’s longtime attorney and close friend, says “Anant is an outstanding member of the international community, and will serve the IOC well.”
Singh is the pre-eminent South African film producer known for over 80 films including Nelson Mandela’s autobiographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. For more information about the IOC election click here.

Weintraub Tobin client, Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox of Smosh fame were featured in a Variety article announcing the premier of, “Smosh: The Movie.” Shareholder Scott Hervey represented Ian and Anthony and executive producer Barry Blumberg in their deals. The movie is now set to have its world premiere on July 23 at digital video conference VidCon in Anaheim, Calif. Following the premiere, the movie will be launched in a limited theatrical release,

Weintraub Tobin is proud to announce that our client David Mamet, who wrote and directed HBO’s “Phil Spector,” recently received two Emmy nominations, including Best Writing and Best Direction. This is the first Emmy nomination for the playwright. Phil Spector, which starred Al Pacino, received a total of 11 Emmy nominations.

Weintraub Tobin Chediak Coleman Grodin Law Corporation is proud to announce that our client Tracy Letts has won a 2013 Tony Award for his role in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”
Letts took home the award Sunday for best performance by an actor in a play for his portrayal of George in Edward Albee’s famous play. The playwright and actor was up against some tough competition including Tom Hanks, Nathan Lane, David Hyde Pierce and Tom Sturridge.

Weintraub clients John and Drew Dowdle will co-write the upcoming microbudget thriller: “As Above, So Below” for Legendary Pictures.
According to Variety, the film will be set in the catacombs beneath Paris where two archeologists look for hidden treasure. Sources say the film would be set in the $5-$10 million range, which stretches the boundaries of what constitute a micro-budget picture, a team popularized for films in the under-$1 million budget range.
