A popular podcast by Weintraub client Sonoro Media will be adapted into a film for Paramount+.
The podcast, titled Toxicomania tells the story of a Mexican doctor who led a revolution during the 1940’s to legalize drug use in the country. It is a fictional story based on real-life events.

On March 27, 2022 CODA won all three Academy Awards for which it was nominated (Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay). It made history as the first film with a predominantly Deaf cast and the first film produced by a streaming service (Apple TV+) to win Best Picture. Actor Troy Kotsur is also the first Deaf male actor to win an Oscar, taking home Best Supporting Actor,

Guy Raz, host of the NPR show How I Built This, with Guy Raz, has struck an exclusive licensing and ad deal with Amazon Music and Wondery. The three-year contract is the first of its kind to be reached between the three companies.

Weintraub client Story Mill Media is launching a podcast with Supernatural stars Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict. The podcast – Supernatural Then and Now – will provide listeners with an inside perspective of the hit drama TV show.

Weintraub client Steven Hein has launched a new podcast company called Story Mill Media. The company completed a pre-seed round of financing to fund several original podcasts with help from Weintraub’s Justin Borrowdale.

Weintraub client Treefort Media is producing a new weekly talk show with Acast titled Kasich & Klepper, starring The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper and former Ohio Governor John Kasich. The show will launch in early 2022 and will cover a variety of hot topics with “humor and understanding.”

Paramount+ is ordering the TV adaptation of the hit true-crime podcast series Happy Face.
The podcast series was created by Weintraub client Melissa Jesperson-Moore and produced in partnership with iHeart Media. Jesperson-Moore discovered at 15 that her father was the serial murderer known as the Happy Face Killer, which the podcast–and her book, Shattered Silence–detail.

Actress, writer, and producer Zosia Mamet has signed a two-book deal with Viking Penguin. My First Popsicle, an anthology exploring food experiences and featuring celebrity contributors, is scheduled for publication in Fall, 2022. The second book will feature a collection of personal essays and is slated for 2023.
Currently appearing in the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, Mamet also starred in the Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning HBO series Girls,
