Paramount+ is ordering the TV adaptation of the hit true-crime podcast series Happy Face.
The podcast series was created by Weintraub client Melissa Jesperson-Moore and produced in partnership with iHeart Media. Jesperson-Moore discovered at 15 that her father was the serial murderer known as the Happy Face Killer, which the podcast–and her book, Shattered Silence–detail.

Actress, writer, and producer Zosia Mamet has signed a two-book deal with Viking Penguin. My First Popsicle, an anthology exploring food experiences and featuring celebrity contributors, is scheduled for publication in Fall, 2022. The second book will feature a collection of personal essays and is slated for 2023.
Currently appearing in the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant, Mamet also starred in the Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning HBO series Girls,

Podcast company Treefort Media and Audible have partnered to produce original scripted audio series as part of a multi-project, first-look development and production deal.
Among the projects is Killing Hollywood: The Cotton Club Murder (which will feature Juliette Lewis, Christian Slater, and Rainn Wilson); Fishpriest (written by Mike Batistick and featuring Ethan Hawke); and Moriarty (featuring Dominic Monaghan).
Treefort Media was represented in the deal by Weintraub attorney Shaun Gordon and UTA.

Apple has made a deal for a podcast series about entertainers Siegfried & Roy with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Leckart and Will Malnati from podcast company At Will Media as executive producers. The series will be launched by Apple TV+ via its podcast platform and marks the first major show on Apple without an immediate television companion.

Tinkercast, a company co-founded by Guy Raz, host of NPR’s How I Built This, has struck a partnership with Sony Music Entertainment to develop a slate of shows. Raz founded Tinkercast with Mindy Thomas, host of SiriusXM’s Absolutely Mindy Show, and Meredith Halpern-Ranzer. The deal also includes the existing kid’s podcast Wow In The World, a series that shares stories about science, technology, and new discoveries which recently reached over 100M downloads.

Freeform has ordered a pilot for the comedy Single Drunk Female. The series is to star Sofia Black-D’Elia as an alcoholic who is forced to move back with her mother, played by Ally Sheedy, to sober up. The pilot will also star Rebecca Henderson, Lily Mae Harrington, and Garrick Bernard.
Simone Finch serves as writer and executive producer on the pilot. Leslye Headland will direct and executive produce; Jenni Konner and Phil Traill will also executive produce.

Treefort Media, the podcast company behind the audio series Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood, has struck a deal with Village Roadshow Entertainment Group to cross-develop and produce podcasts and television series.
In addition to Fatal Voyage, Treefort Media is also known for Keegan-Michael Key’s NFL series Drafted and podcast spin-offs of TV series and films including Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story and For Life.
