Jessica Marlow is a trailblazer in the merger of digital and traditional media, spearheading cutting-edge deals in gaming, podcasts, endorsements, merchandising, touring, publishing, and everything in-between. Jessica’s representation of clients exploring and expanding onto new platforms—including TikTok, Instagram TV, and Twitch—has contributed to shaping the legal world surrounding talent for a new generation.

Wayne Kazan, Entertainment Group chair and member of the Firm’s management committee, has been at the forefront of the intersection of the video game industry and Hollywood for the last 15 years. In addition to his work with video game developers and publishers, technology companies, and TV/film producers and talent, he represents a broad range of Industry-related companies.

Shaun Gordon represents podcast production companies and podcast talent in transactions with major and emerging studios and distributors for the production and distribution of scripted and unscripted podcasts, as well as television series based on those podcasts. Shaun’s practice also includes the representation of writers, producers, and creators in television, film, and digital media.

Todd Stern Recognized in Variety’s 2015 Legal Impact Report

LOS ANGELES (April 14, 2015) – Weintraub Tobin shareholder, Todd Stern, was recognized in Variety’s 2015 Legal Impact Report as an attorney whose recent deals have changed the shape of entertainment. Stern joins an elite group of attorneys working in film, television, theater, and digital media.

The Legal Impact Report is a list compiled by Variety’s editorial team and is based on nominations from the legal and entertainment communities, as well as research and interviews with top entertainment executives. Attorneys were selected based on the impact they have made on the business side of the entertainment industry over the past year.

The report appears in the April 14 issue of Variety.

Wayne Kazan Named to Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report

Attorney Wayne Kazan was named in Variety’s Dealmakers Impact Report. According to Variety, “Just a few years ago, videogame developers sought employment on massive console games, but now those same developers want to become entrepreneurs at the top of startup studios making casual games. Kazan says that the talent-driven studios ‘still need investors and, in some cases, publishers are investors’ for access to content and options to buy studios. His client Cliff Bleszinski just established studio Boss Key Productions. Kazan’s law practice specializes in videogames, brand licensing and Hollywood creative talent.”

Stan Coleman Has Been Named to Variety Magazine’s Legal Impact Report

Weintraub Shareholder Stan Coleman has been named to Variety Magazine’s 2013 Legal Impact Report. The Legal Impact Report is an annual feature within Variety, spotlighting the critical role played by the legal community in the entertainment business and featuring 40 top lawyers (only 23 transactional) working in film, television, theater and new media.

The article notes that Stan has worked in all media, and summarized his notable accomplishments as follows:

“[Stan] closed Diane Lane’s deal to star in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Superman reboot, “Man of Steel”; David Mamet’s deal to write and direct HBO’s original film “Spector,” the story of the the Phil Spector trial; Zosia Mamet’s deal for HBO’s “Girls”; and Clara Mamet’s deal for ABC’s “Neighbors.” Coleman also set up franchise-size properties with six different studios for Scholastic. He repped Random House in three deals: a film production with Focus, a TV venture with FremantleMedia and a merchandising pact with UTA.”
