Alexa Horner in The San Francisco Standard: ‘Unnecessary’ Police Stop Endangered the Public

After an August 6, 2022, police stop, a man experiencing mental health difficulties was fired upon by SFPD officers. Weintraub attorney Alexa Horner, who was the Deputy Public Defender on the case, called for the release of the man, Jose Corvera, who had not been charged with any theft but was still being detained.

“This unnecessary police stop instigated and escalated a situation which endangered the public, Mr. Corvera, and members of the SFPD. We ask for his immediate release as the victim of a biased police stop and officer-involved shooting by SFPD,” said Horner.
