WT Clients: Films Premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival

Weintraub clients screen several new projects during the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 7th through September 17th.

The world premiere of AGC Studios’ true crime film Woman of the Hour is scheduled for Friday, September 8th. Directed by Anna Kendrick, the film retells the story of serial killer Rodney Alcala, who appeared on The Dating Game in the 1970s while on a murder spree. Weintraub shareholders Alan Grodin and Tara Sattler represent AGC Studios. Tara Sattler assisted with production legal on this project.

On that same day, Hello Friend Media will debut Summer Qamp, its documentary about queer, non-binary, and trans teens at Camp fYrefly in Alberta. Jen Markowitz directed the doc. Tara Sattler and Weintraub associate Jamie Lincenberg represent executive producer Hello Friend Media and its principals Lo Heimer and Mia Weier.

On Sunday, September 10th, Brookstreet Pictures will debut its crime drama film Knox Goes Away, starring and directed by Michael Keaton. The film follows a hitman diagnosed with a fast-moving form of dementia who wants to complete one final task before succumbing to his illness. Tara Sattler, Melissa Buckman, and Jamie Lincenberg assisted Brookstreet Pictures with production, financing, and distribution legal on this film.

The following day, September 11th, the dark comedy Poolman will make its world premiere. The film, produced by AGC Studios and directed by Chris Pine, follows a pool cleaner who uncovers a conspiracy in Los Angeles. Tara Sattler, Melissa Buckman, and Jamie Lincenberg assisted with production legal for AGC Studios on this project.

Weintraub client AGC Studios will also premiere Hit Man in North American at TIFF on Monday, September 11th. The comedy-thriller is directed by Richard Linklater and stars Adria Arjona, Glen Powell, Retta, and Austin Amelio.
