Weintraub Tobin Hosts Firm-Wide Mock Trial
Published: July 16, 2025
Weintraub Tobin hosted its internal mock trial on June 27, 2025. Designed to help associates refine their courtroom skills while under the expert supervision of more senior attorneys, the mock trial included key elements of real litigation.
Over 30 participants joined from across all offices and ranks, including shareholders, associates, and staff. Mock jurors filled the room as associates acting as counsel gave opening and closing arguments, presented evidence, and cross-examined witnesses before a shareholder acting as a judge throughout the day-long event. At the end of the day, the jury deliberated and returned a verdict. In preparation for the mock trial, associates also took and defended depositions of key witnesses, filed motions in limine to exclude evidence, and prepared pre-trial documents like jury instructions and verdict forms.
“This was a key opportunity for our associates to hone their litigation skills – from the inception of a case to a jury verdict – and identify areas of strength and growth,” said Litigation Practice Group Leader Jessica R. Corpuz. “It was a great way for the Firm to provide valuable mentorship and professional development for our associates.”
After the mock trial, participating associates received feedback from their mentors to help further sharpen their trial advocacy skills.
