Malcolm is one of the founders of the firm, which was formed in January 1978.

He began his law career in 1956 in Sacramento, and for over 55 years his professional life has mirrored the business climate of the Sacramento region. Malcolm’s expertise focuses in the fields of business entity formation, complex business transactions, financings and acquisitions, general counsel to corporations. He has served as a member of corporate boards of directors. Malcolm also practices extensively in the field of family succession planning.

Malcolm has actively engaged in bar activities, including service as a member of the State Bar Executive Committee of the Business Law Section, member of the State Bar Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation, president of the Executive Council of the Conference of Barristers and delegate to the State Bar Conference of Delegates. He has presented many business law related and estate planning programs for the University of California Continuing Education of the Bar and lectured at the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. Malcolm was president of the Sacramento County Legal Aid Society and member of the Advisory Committee of Legal Services of Northern California. Malcolm was recognized on The Best Lawyers in America® 2009 list in the area of Trusts and Estates.

Malcolm has participated extensively in the affairs of the Sacramento regional community. The activity has been broad in scope, including involvement with the Sacramento Regional Foundation, Sacramento Light Opera Association, UC Davis Graduate School of Management, California State University of Sacramento Trust Foundation, KVIE Public Television, Crocker Art Museum, Family Service Agency, Sacramento Symphony Association and Central Valley Foundation.

Malcolm enjoys life with Judith, his wife of over fifty years, their six children and five grandchildren. His personal interests include art, architecture, cinema, theater, music, literature, and running. Malcolm now resides in Carmel, California, where he is actively involved in the Monterey Peninsula College (MPC), taking classes in literature, film and art, the MPC Foundation and the Cherry Center for the Arts. He also is an accomplished sculptor.
