William Scott Cameron is Of Counsel in Weintraub’s Litigation practice group, where he focuses his practice on complex civil litigation and appeals.
Scott has experience representing and advising clients in complex civil litigation including matters based on antitrust, intellectual property, breach of contract, unfair competition, business torts, and constitutional law. Scott has extensive experience representing clients in bet-the-company litigation, including defending claims brought under federal and state False Claims Acts, RICO, and fraud. Scott also has experience in intellectual property litigation, including trademark, trade dress and unfair competition under the Lanham Act, and patent and copyright disputes. He has represented clients before federal and state appellate courts, argued before the Ninth Circuit, and tried cases in both jury and bench trials in federal and state courts.
Scott’s experience in healthcare law includes representing healthcare providers in litigation and binding arbitration against health plans over widespread reimbursement disputes and in disputes with local hospital districts. He has defended health care providers in cases alleging violations of federal and state False Claims Acts based on fraudulent billing and in claims alleging violations of Stark and Antikickback laws.
Prior to rejoining Weintraub Tobin in 2022, Scott worked for a decade for two of the largest law firms in the country. Scott worked for two years as a judicial law clerk for Judge Consuelo M. Callahan, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He began his career as a judicial law clerk for Judge Morrison C. England, Jr., United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, immediately after graduating law school.
Prior to pursuing a career in the law, Scott was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, flying the F-4E Phantom II fighter as a Weapons Systems Officer. Scott continued his military career during and after law school in the Nevada Air National Guard, where he flew the C-130 Hercules, a tactical airlift aircraft 1999. He is a decorated Master Navigator with several combat deployments in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. He recently retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
