Mary received her J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from Western State University College of Law. Mary is a past chair of the Trust and Estates Section of the California Lawyer’s Association (TEXCOM), where she also previously served as co-chair of the Legislation Subcommittee and as co-editor-in-chief of the Trusts and Estates Quarterly. She is also a past co-chair of TEXCOM’s Education Committee and past co-chair of their Incapacity Committee. Mary was appointed as vice-chair of TEXCOM for the 2022 year and was appointed to and presently serves on the Judicial Council of California Probate and Mental Health Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations to the Judicial Council of California for improving the administration of justice in probate matters involving mental health and developmental disability issues. She recently was elected to membership in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). She is a past chair of the Estate and Gift Tax Committee of the Taxation Section of the California State Bar and a past chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association.
Mary is a member of the Trusts and Estates and Taxation Sections of the California Lawyers Association, the Sacramento County Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Sacramento Estate Planning Council. She has authored and co-authored a number of articles regarding trusts and estates issues. She regularly speaks to both lay groups and legal practitioners on various topics relating to trust and probate law.
