A shareholder in the Firm’s Litigation department, Marvin Gelfand represents numerous institutional and other business clients in a broad variety of endeavors.

His representative clients include businesses in the entertainment, manufacturing, electronics, wine importation/distribution, healthcare, trucking, furniture, jewelry, toys, and clothing industries. He also represents several labor and employment leasing companies.

Business, commercial, and employment matters and the creation and protection of intellectual property rights are major focus areas in Marvin’s litigation practice. He has successfully represented numerous clients before the Trademark Trials and Appeals Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office in various proceedings and the United States District and Circuit Courts. Marvin’s representation of many entrepreneurs has led to a specialty in estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and their families.

In the late 1980s, Marvin became involved in the alternative energy field. He was widely recognized as one of the most knowledgeable and successful attorneys in wind energy litigation, including service as an expert witness and international arbitrator. He also served as general counsel to one of the most prominent athletic events in the City of Los Angeles for more than 20 years. He sat on the board of directors of numerous for-profit and not-for-profit corporations and organizations.

Marvin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University in 1969 and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California School of Law in 1972; He has served as a Judge Pro Tempore of the Los Angeles Municipal Courts and as a mediator for the Los Angeles County Court’s alternative dispute resolution program. He is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has served on various committees and sections, including Litigation, Intellectual Property Law, and Estate Planning. As an adjunct to law practice, Marvin devotes considerable time to key leadership roles in local and national charitable organizations.
