City of Los Angeles Healthcare Workers Minimum Wage Ordinance

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Los Angeles City Council has approved an ordinance to increase compensation for healthcare workers, who they have referred to as “the backbone of the COVID-19 response.” The City Council has indicated that adequate compensation will help address the burnout, retention challenges, and worker shortages affecting healthcare workers in Los Angeles. It is anticipated that the mayor will sign the ordinance. The ordinance will become effective 30 days after the mayor’s signature.

Michael Che of SNL Fame Beats Infringement Claim by TikTok Creator

On June 22, 2022, a New York federal judge dismissed a claim by popular TikTok creator Kelly Manno against Michael Che (former cast member on Saturday Night Live.) Manno claimed that Che copied a comedy bit posted on her TikTok account for his HBO show “That Damn Michael Che.” Manno sued Che, NBCUniversal, (which produces the show,) and WarnerMedia (which owns HBO Max) alleging copyright infringement.

Weintraub Partners with Syserco, Inc. to Help Support Bay Area Youth

Weintraub Tobin was proud to partner with Syserco, Inc. as a sponsor in the 7th Annual Golf for Kids’ Sake charity golf tournament on June 15, 2022.

The tournament, held in Livermore, CA, benefitted the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, raising over $157,000 to help support Bay Area youth. The proceeds help defend children’s potential with professionally supported mentorships throughout all nine Bay Area counties. 144 golfers attended the event, which featured a driving range, mini golf challenge, and golf pro-Patrick Bakerjian.
