After surviving holiday family dinners, a few-too-many champagne toasts, and a record-breaking snowstorm, this team is ready to turn its sights to a new year and the exciting projects that are in store.  To kick off our 2022 newsletter season (and hopefully in better fashion than the Sacramento Kings), we thought it would be helpful to summarize a few of California’s noteworthy new-for-2022 laws.[1] There aren’t any earth-shattering changes that will require substantial deviation to standard operating procedures, but some represent new requirements that will need to be considered in upcoming projects.

Lizbeth West Named President of Hope Cooperative Board of Directors

Weintraub Tobin is pleased to announce that attorney Lizbeth “Beth” West has been elected President of the Board of Directors for TLCS, Inc. dba Hope Cooperative.

Hope Cooperative is a 40-year-old Sacramento-based non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission is to transform the lives of those living with behavioral health challenges, substance use disorders, and homelessness, by supporting their independence, promoting their housing stability, and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives. Hope Cooperative helps empower more than 8,000 people each year in Sacramento and Yolo counties.

Greg Kihn is a musician best known for his 1983 hit song, “Jeopardy.” In 2017, he (and his publishing company) filed suit against Bill Graham Archives, LLC, which did business as Wolfgang’s Vault. Wolfgang’s Vault is a website where visitors could, for a fee, access thousands of live musical performances from the 1950s to the 1990s. Mr. Kihn’s complaint alleged violations of federal copyright and anti-bootlegging laws. He sought to bring these claims of a class of other performers similarly situated.
