On February 19th, Ryan Abernethy, Meagan Bainbridge, and Jacqueline Simonovich hosted an interactive seminar discussing the opportunities and pitfalls of California’s PAGA reforms. After a brief overview of the new regulations and protective measures all California employers can take immediately, they guided attendees through an interactive, step-by-step simulated response to a PAGA Notice, including the investigation that employers should undertake, the strict remedial deadlines that must be observed, and the opportunities to cure.

Governor Newsom has signed a number of bills into law that become effective as early as January 1, 2025. In addition, CalOSHA has approved new indoor heat illness standards.  It is that time of year where employers should begin making adjustments in their policies and practices to comply with the new employment laws that impact their workplaces.

The Bar Association of San Francisco Presents Diversity Conference 2024

On October 17th and 18th, The Bar Association of San Francisco’s Barristers Club Diversity and Inclusion Committee presented the Diversity Conference 2024.

The 2024 Diversity Conference theme was “Defending Democracy.” The conference included five sessions over two days and sought to deepen awareness and engagement around racial equity and inclusion efforts in the legal industry and society. This conference included multiple thought-provoking panels, prominent guest speakers, and more.
