Practice Areas

Donna is a Shareholder in the firm’s Real Estate group. Donna’s real estate practice focuses on all aspects of real estate, finance, acquisition, disposition and development, partnership and joint venture arrangements. She also assists national homebuilders in the purchase, sale and development of real property, including the documentation of master-planned communities. Donna negotiates and prepares complex real estate documents including Purchase and Sale Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Declarations of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, Cross-Easement Agreements, Right-of-Entry Agreements, Cost Sharing Agreements and Infrastructure Improvement Agreements. She analyzes and provides analysis with respect to due diligence materials and overall development strategies in line with the client’s strategic goals. Donna has extensive experience reviewing surveys and title, including preliminary reports, title policies, endorsements for commercial projects and review and analysis of ALTA surveys, Subdivision Maps and Site Plans in connection with the development of real property.

Her real estate practice additionally includes the drafting and negotiating of leases, drafting residential development sale documents, conditions, covenants and restrictions for residential and commercial projects, and obtaining approvals from the California Department of Real Estate.

Donna’s practice also includes the formation of business entities for real estate development and other commercial enterprises. She has broad experience representing developers and investors in the forming and operating of limited liability companies, partnerships, joint ventures, and other investment vehicles.

Prior to joining the firm, Donna was a shareholder at McDonough Holland & Allen PC in the firm’s Real Estate group. Her legal experience includes representing real estate developers in all stages of development including land use entitlements to the sale of the asset for residential, commercial and mixed-use projects.

Prior Experience

Prior to working in Sacramento, Donna worked as an associate attorney in the real estate and finance departments of a San Francisco based law firm. She represented real estate developers on construction financing and mezzanine loans. She also represented lenders and borrowers in commercial loan transactions.

In 1998, Donna was an associate attorney in the real estate, environmental and land use practice of a national law firm based in San Francisco where she was responsible for preparing the underlying documentation in order to license and register real estate resort developments in 15 states. In addition, she was a member of the alcohol beverage control team and was responsible for handling the licensing of a national hotel chain. She also managed and handled a 50 state survey for a marketing company regarding the complex regulation and distribution of alcohol beverages and dairy products.
